Planning a Large Wedding on a Budget

One of the most overwhelming factors in wedding planning is budget.  Most Philly brides have big visions and ideas for their wedding day, but less stress is worth its weight in gold. So why not proactively manage what many believe to be the most stressful aspect, by setting up a detailed budget before you even get started?

Think of your budget as the first branch of wedding planning and all your other plans grow out from there. Now, if you find yourself planning what we consider to be a large wedding in a Philadelphia venue, then your budget is going to be your best friend here!

The number of guests you invite will have the most impact on your budget so choose wisely here, and set rules for how both sides of the family will make their lists.  These rules will eliminate any hurt feelings from uninvited guests.

Other options for savings include anything from DIY decor, to borrowing, to hunting for some bargains at your favorite craft store/fair.  Believe it or not, you can find some great wedding décor/inspirations at local craft fairs or thrift shops, and you can save some extra money while you’re at it.

You might find yourself wanting to splurge on those fancy centerpieces or favors but remember, you can always do a little DIY wedding project to create the exact same pieces that you are seeing! Challenge yourself and your bridesmaids and have fun in the process.  After all, you’re in luck because the DIY wedding trend is in, and there are tons of DIY wedding decor ideas on Pinterest.

Consider DIY wedding favors, DIY place cards, DIY seating chart, DIY wedding centerpieces, DIY bouquets, DIY boutonnieres, etc. You can even save by doing your own hair and makeup or have a friend who is skilled in these areas help you out!

There are also ways to save when you are shopping for a wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses, tuxes etc. As you are going through your wedding plans make sure to keep an eye out for sales throughout the year leading up to your wedding. Especially around the holidays you might find some sales being advertised for tuxes and bridesmaids dresses.

At The Felt Factory we know how important your wedding day is and we know that it is important that all your wedding dreams come true. You can still have the wedding day that you have always dreamed of while still staying on budget and saving a little extra money wherever you can.  It is all about organizing, budgeting and planning.  Happy planning!
